The June 2020 security patch has already begun rollout in the US for unlocked variants of the Samsung Galaxy S20 series.
The South Korean firm dropped the most recent patch to the right of the “official” release as Samsung’s improved security update continued. Google provides patch notes to all OMs to make sure all potential security issues are resolved, but it’s still impressive that the S-20 series keeps pace with Google Pixel – which will get the 2020 patch today.
(Update 06/22): If you have a Verizon-locked Galaxy S20 series device, you should get the June 2020 protection patch soon. The carrier has now confirmed the Galaxy S20 + 5G and Galaxy S20 Ultra 5G (via Android Police) rollout. Expect to see the firmware versions QP1A.190711.020.G986USQU1ATEC And QP1A.190711.020.G988USQU1ATEC Rolling in the coming days, respectively.
Surprisingly there is still no confirmation for the standard Galaxy S20 5G, which we imagine will come soon. Changelog, however, does not add any significant features, only the latest security patches. You can see the complete changes of Verizon S20 + and S20 Ultra below:
The current software update provides your device with:
- Most updated Android security patch
- System augmentation
- Performance improvement
If you haven’t checked your device, now may be the time to go to Settings> System Update and press that refresh button.
If you have an unlocked US Samsung Galaxy S20, 20+, or S20 Ultra, expect to see the firmware version G986U1UES1TE4, G986U1OYM1ATE Or G986U1UESATE4 Rolling in the coming days. At around 220MB, this is a relatively modest update and although various updates are being brought to improve call clarity in South Korea, it is only an update for device protection (via Sammobile).
There is no word on the June 2020 patch for the global variants of the Samsung Galaxy S20 series. But if America wants to get the update a little later than most of the time in the world, we’ll expect to see more of the patch in the coming days.
(06/03 Update): Since the Galaxy S20 has been updated, the next wave has started, first with the “Global” version of the Exynos or S20 series. To add to this, the June 2020 protection patch is also being introduced for the Galaxy S10 and Note 10 series (via Sammobile).
Expect to see the firmware versions G97xU1UES3DTDD And N97xU1UES3CTE5, Revolving around the United States for the Galaxy S10 and Note 10, respectively. To be clear, you can be updated if you have S10, S10 + or S10e as well as Note 10 or Note 10+. However, there is still no word on the Galaxy S10 5G.
It may be time to go to your device’s System Settings> Software Updates and see if you can update your device now. If you’ve received a June 2020 patch on your Galaxy S20 Series device and have seen something new or significant, let us know in the comments section below.
