Not enough TV shows feature smooth bananas and pick-n-mix, we can all agree on that.
So it’s very good news that the re-vamped Supermarket Sweep, hosted by Rylan Clark Neil, has been re-admitted for the second series.
And not only that, the show has also been given a fancy new time-slot on a different channel.
The reboot began last year, airing on ITV 2 at 8 p.m. After proving to be a hit, the show has now aired on ITV, running for 25 episodes. It will take a slot for an intended day, persuading everyone working from home to take a coffee break …
Host Rylan Clark-Neil has always been a huge fan of the series and glad to be back a bit more. “The time in my life was to sweep the supermarket,” he says. “I was very touched to see the real warmth people for this event. Taking a sweep at ITV is a dream come true and I can’t wait to welcome shoppers of all ages to our store. “
There is still no word on whether Carrie star Jenny McAlpine will return as the voice of supermarket Tanoy, but the fingers are crossed.
Originally from a show hosted by Dale Winton in the 1990s, a team of two entered a set that looked like a real supermarket. They answer food-related questions to increase the time on the clock before going to the trolley dash, trying to grab as many products as possible. It’s about the value of the stuff in your trolley – above all the Super Sweep is going to win prizes.
It has also been confirmed that six celebrity specials will appear in the new episode, though we still don’t know which famous faces will appear.
Moved from ITV 2 to ITV, Supermarket Sweep will return to our screens later this year. Check out our TV guide to find out what’s going on in the meantime.
