Robbie Ray, Jonathan Villar active for the Blue Jess Game vs. Marlins

Two new members of the Toronto Blue Jays will be available for Tuesday night’s series opener against the Miami Marlins.

Robbie Ray and Jonathan Villa have both informed the club and are active according to the team.

According to SportsNet’s Ben Nicholson-Smith, the V player will bat third in the order and play shortstops against his former team, while Ray will probably play for the Blue Jays with some ability.

Charlie Monteo, director of #Blues, says new lefty Ravi Roy will follow Julian Marioweider tonight as a bulk call.

The first pitch between Neil Joyce and Marlins is at 6:37 a.m. ET

In a similar move, Neil Joyce added him to the taxi squad by substituting Jacob Waguspack at the club’s alternative training site, while Brandon nominated Drury, Sam Gaviglio and Daniel Vogelbach.

Villar and Roy were acquired before the MLB trade deadline on Monday, as the team wanted to be stronger for the run in the next season.

Another player to be brought forward ahead of schedule, pitcher Ross Stripling, will make his debut as a starter in a doubleheader game for the team against the Boston Red Sox on Friday.

The team’s move to start pitching, which included the addition of the Taijuan Walker, came after a few fist injuries in the Blue Joyce rotation. One of those players is Trent Thornton, who underwent surgery Monday to remove a loose body from his right elbow. Charlie Montoi said Thornton is expected to be ready for the 2021 season.

Montayo also provided updates on Tuesday to Ken Giles, Bo Beachetti, Knut Pearson and Matt Schumacher, each of whom is making progress in their respective rehabilitation.

Injury updates:
– Why Lice felt better after the first live BP; A set for Saturday now due to the doubleheader on Friday;
– Bow Beachty took the grounder, took the sprint and hit the cage;
– Net Pearson played a catch in the 120-foot team, the next step being a bullpen; 105 feet with matte shoes.
