LG has released the Apple TV app to support the 2018 LED Smart TV, AirPlay and HomeKit coming later this year

Owners of LG 2018 OLED and UHD smart TVs will now be able to use the Apple TV app, the company announced today as the app was previously launched in 2019 and 2020 models from LG and Samsung and Apple has promised that it will soon come to Sony and Vizio smart TVs.

The Apple TV app allows customers to enjoy Apple + original content, including TV +, subscriptions to Apple TV channels, and the ability to purchase and rent TV shows and movies from the iTunes Store.

This announcement has been going on for a long time for 2018 LG TV users, just like last week there are doubts about this company’s commitment cycle. However, the app is now available for real. In most cases, the Apple TV app will be automatically added to the home strip of the video app.

LG is committed to adding HomeKit and AirPlay 2 support to these 2018 models. No release date has been announced but it is expected later this year.

This will allow users to stream content from iPhone and iPad to TV without the need to purchase an Apple TV box. These features are already available on new LG TVs in selected models from Samsung, VGO and Sony.
