Omar Nurmagomedov – Sergei Morozov reportedly removed on January 20

Umar NurmagomedoV, who is Khabir’s younger cousin, was first scheduled to fight Morozov at UFC 257. As Connor McGregor was ready to fight Dustin Poirier in this event, Khabib’s fiercest rival, there was some buzz about what could happen.

Khabib will be in Abu Dhabi this month and Umar was expected to join UFC 257 due to competition.

However, Russian MMA journalist Igor Lazorin told Nurmagomedov – Morozov’s fight has shifted to January 20. MMA Jankio also confirmed the change through a source, but why it was not disclosed.

Lazorin speculated about whether the change was made in an attempt to keep the news team away from Connor. That is why he will not be the only one to wonder why this has happened.

Umar’s UFC debut

Nurmagomedov (12-0) was booked three times before for the UFC debut and the fight was postponed in each case.

Originally, he was scheduled to fight Hunter Auzur last April but the event was canceled due to the COVID-19 epidemic.

Nathaniel Wood was then due to face Nurmagomedov in July, but he withdrew after the death of his uncle, Khabib’s father, Abdulmanap.

Most recently, in October at UFC 254, the staff dragged Nurmagomedov out of his bout with Morozov due to an infection.

Morozov (1 16-4) is also set to make his octagonal debut.
