WB Games Montreal is working on a new game based on the Batman universe and we recently got the title. Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment was able to showcase their project, Goth Nights, during the DC Fandom event. This title is an action RPG that does not necessarily follow Batman. Instead, the game follows the Batman family and we found today that the game will not feature a story that has already been told.
The senior producer of the upcoming title, Flavor, spoke to Marty Gamsader that the title, which will be released next year, will feature a completely original story. The trailer showed that Batman had been killed and that it was like Rothin, Nightwing, Red Hood and Bat Girl to protect the citizens of Gotham from corrupt enemies like chaos. It’s an interesting game because we usually focus on taking on the role of the Dark Knight because he took the initiative to stop the conspiracy of some of his most memorable villains to take control of Gotham City.
While the game clearly features a brand new original story, it looks like the studios tapped into other established storylines featuring DC Comics to get some inspiration for their work. Apparently the most obviously accepted by the fans was the storyline of the Court of Awles which was generally a bit new story for the Batman franchise. It all started in 2011 when Scott Snyder was writing the Batman comic.
Having a new storyline should give the developer some more freedom to create a storyline that is familiar not only to comic book readers but also to those who haven’t been doubled in the new 52 Batman series. It remains to be seen, but we will get our answer next year. Gotham Knights PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and finally the Xbox Series X are all set to hit the market sometime in 2021.
