Florida Sheriff: 3 friends beaten, fatally shot as they meet to go fishing Friday night

Frostproof, Fla. – The Pollock County Sheriff’s Office is searching for the man (s) who killed three people on Friday night, July 1, in Frostproof, Florida.

According to the PCSO, Damien Tillman, 23, Kevin Springfield, 30, and Brandon Rollins, 227, were beaten and shot while meeting for a fishing trip around 10 p.m. The strain is 27 27 above the lake.

Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd said Tillman first appeared on the lake and was killed. Rollins and Springfield appeared together shortly afterwards and were shot.

Rollins was able to call his father and say, “Help.” His father knew that his son had gone fishing and immediately moved to Lake Strait.

Deputies said when he arrived, he found his son just alive and his two friends dead. PCSO also said that Rollins was able to say something to his father, but details of their conversation are not being disclosed.

According to PCSO, Rollins’ father left home so early that he forgot his cellphone. He drove to the nearest gas station to call 911.

All three died when the first responders arrived. According to the dead PCSO, they appear to have been beaten and shot.

According to the families, the three men were best friends year after year and were fishing on Friday night (not on the boat, but on the land).

Sheriff Judd said, “I’ve been to a lot of murder scenes, but this is the worst thing I’ve ever seen.”
