First round

Figaredo came out with pressure and Benavidez kicked back. Shortly after, Figueroa summoned Benavidez with a huge right. Figueroa follows with a shot from above and then wraps up the rear-naked-choke. What a great. Benavidez was able to escape. Seconds later, Figueroa secured a more stern-looking suffocation, but a restless Benavidez again worked his way n incredible.

The fight came back to his feet and Benavidez scored with a few punches. Later in the round, Figueroa put Benavidez down another big right for the moment. Benavidez fired a few shots shortly afterwards but at the last minute Figueroa let him down again.

Figueroa bleeds Benavidez by striking from above and then securing another rear-naked-choke. This time, however, Benavidez could not escape and he escaped. Key performance of the new flyweight champ.

Figueroa also stopped Benavidez in their February bout, but the accidental title result clouded the results before the final storm of fighting. Since Figueroa also failed to lose weight for that fight, he was ineligible for the title.
